In 2020, affected by the global spread of the COVID-19 epidemic, the manufacturing sector has faced a deteriorating investment environment, slower growth and an increasing uncertainty of the world economy. Fortunately, in spite of the pandemic and the downturn of the global manufacturing industry, the total amount of Tai Hing’s shipments in the first quarter of 2020 was maintained at a similar level as in 2019, and the orders accumulated during the holidays and shutdown periods were completed on time and with quality. Meanwhile, the board of directors fulfilled its promise of “no layoffs, no pay cuts” under the pandemic, which tremendously uplifted the team spirit to cope with the ongoing challenges.

 

In the second quarter, with more than 30 years of expertise and experience in the production of plastic monofilaments, Tai Hing carried out the R&D and production of all-plastic nose strip products for face masks. Upon receiving favorable reviews and demands from many mask manufacturers, the shipment of all-plastic nose strips reached 250 tons in 2020, supporting the production of more than 1 billion masks in total. To date, Tai Hing still provides all-plastic nose strips to the market and continues to support the production of epidemic prevention materials.

In the second and third quarters of 2020, the filaments market gradually recovered due to the stabilizing epidemic situation, growing demand for cleaning supplies and resumption of foreign production. As a result, Tai Hing achieved an approximately 14% year-on-year growth of the overall plastic product shipments in the third quarter.

 

In the meantime, Tai Hing has been providing customers with continuous support during difficult times and able to sustain supplies to customers when the market was suffering from supply shortage due to COVID-19. For that reason, many of Tai Hing customers regained hope and businesses were back on track. When facing operational challenges, Tai Hing are thankful to customers for their support and encouragement and honored to utilize the resources and capabilities to overcome obstacles so as to help customers to achieve business growth throughout the pandemic crisis.

At the end of 2020, impacted by the price increase and shortages of upstream raw material, suppliers were forced to reduce production, cut orders and reject businesses, many manufacturers decided to wait and slow down their productions. However, Tai Hing did not give up and continued to tackle the issues of supply shortages. We paid close attention to the market to monitor the raw material situation, actively contacted new and existing suppliers to maintain the supply chain and regularly updated our production capacity status to customers. Consequently, Tai Hing shipments achieved a 48.7% year-on-year growth, and the number of customers increased by 36.8% in the first quarter of 2021. Today, the price of raw materials is still rising. Tai Hing will continue to maintain a well-stocked supply of raw materials while seeking for other alternatives.

 

Thanks to the constant effort in maintaining stable supplies, Tai Hing was able to protect the interests of customers. At the beginning of 2021, following the introduction of bio-based brush filaments, biodegradable brush filaments were launched, and their excellent performance has been recognized by many manufacturer brands that promote biodegradable products.
