Biofil S | Say No to Plastic Waste with the Zero-Residue, Ocean-Friendly Filament
Marine plastic pollution is a critical environmental crisis. Traditional plastics take centuries to break down, continually poisoning marine life. Meanwhile, mainstream biodegradable materials like PLA are designed only for land; once in the ocean, they degrade slowly and break down into microplastics that accumulate up the food chain, ultimately threatening human health.

To solve this problem, Tai Hing Materials has launched Biofil S—a specialized marine-degradable filament designed to tackle ocean plastic pollution at its source.
-
Key Advantage: 100% Bio-Based, Zero Ocean Residue
Biofil S is a natural bioplastic derived from microbial fermentation. Made from 100% bio-based materials, it fully decomposes via marine microorganisms into just water and carbon dioxide. It leaves behind zero microplastics and zero toxic residue, eliminating ecological risks to our oceans.
The product is backed by three prestigious international certifications:
- TÜV 4-Star OK Biobased Certification: Verifies 100% bio-based carbon content.
- TÜV OK Biodegradable MARINE Certification: Confirms a degradation rate exceeding the industry standard of 90% within 6 months.
- Japan Marine Biodegradable Certification: Provides global validation for its eco-friendly performance.

Durability Testing: Stable Storage & Long Shelf Life
To ensure the storage stability of this bio-based material, Tai Hing conducted comprehensive, real-world aging tests across various warehousing scenarios:
- Ambient Indoor & Vacuum/Light-Shielded Storage: Tested monthly over a 12-month period.
- Accelerated Aging (60°C, Vacuum, Light-Shielded): Tested monthly over a 3-month period.
The Results: Core metrics—including tensile strength and wear resistance—showed no noticeable decline across all test groups. Bending strength actually improved slightly, providing even better rigid support. The filaments showed zero signs of aging, embrittlement, or deterioration.
Biofil S successfully overcomes the aging vulnerabilities typical of traditional bio-based filaments. By balancing storage stability with real-world durability, it is fully optimized for mass production, warehousing, and consumer use.

Applications: Sustainability Meets Performance
Oral Care
Optimized bending strength delivers precise cleaning power to easily reach blind spots in the mouth. Because it degrades fully if it ends up in the ocean, everyday toothbrushing now protects both teeth and marine life.

Beauty Tools
The filaments are soft on the skin and ensure even powder pickup for a flawless, natural makeup finish. They also support antimicrobial modifications for enhanced hygiene. By leaving zero waste in the ocean after disposal, Biofil S helps cosmetics brands achieve their green ESG goals.

Comprehensive Eco-Strategy
Tai Hing has built a dual-line green product ecosystem: Biofil S targets marine degradation, while its sister line, Biofil, focuses on land-based plastic pollution. Together, they deliver a comprehensive, land-to-sea defense for our planet. Choose a sustainable filament today to protect our blue oceans tomorrow. With its 100% bio-based composition, high stability, and complete biodegradability, Tai Hing Biofil S is redefining green filaments for a plastic-free ocean future.
