Applications of High-Temperature PPA in Bristle Industry

Release time:2026-04-14 15:46:31

Traditional nylon brush filaments soften, deform, and lose strength under high temperature, high humidity, or corrosive conditions. High-temperature PPA (polyphthalamide) bristles, with a semi-aromatic structure, break these limits for high-end brushes.

Key properties:

1.     Long-term heat resistance up to 170–180°C; no creep or collapse;

2.     Water absorption ~1/3 of standard nylon; excellent dimensional accuracy;

3.     High rigidity, wear resistance, and fatigue resistance;

4.     Resistance to oil, acids, alkalis, and detergents; some grades food-contact safe.

PPA brush filament is widely used in high-temperature industrial cleaning brushes, automotive brushes, food/medical cleaning brushes, precision polishing brushes, and road sweepers. They offer better cost-performance than ultra-high-temperature materials and higher durability than standard nylon. With industry upgrading, PPA is becoming a mainstream high-performance choice.

To support customers in developing and manufacturing high-temperature resistant brushes, Tai Hing has developed the Nevanx™ Series of high-temperature resistant nylon filaments – Nexfil™ 0006, Nexfil™ 0066, Nexfil™ 0046, as well as PEEK brush filaments.
  • Nexfil™ 0006: Melting point 215–225℃, suitable for long-term use at 95℃ with excellent heat resistance and no deformation.

  • Nexfil™ 0066: Melting point 235–263℃, suitable for long-term use at 150℃.

  • Nexfil™ 0046: Melting point 295℃, suitable for long-term use at 160℃.

  • PEEK filament: Melting point 345–350℃, suitable for use in 180–250℃ high-temperature environments.
